Polymath Creative Collective 〰️
Hi! We are so glad you are here :) We at the Polymath Creative Collective (PCC) created this organization to provide our fellow Polymaths with an outlet for creative expression and a reprieve from our science-focused coursework. As scientists, we love to focus on our analytical side, but as artists we love to bring out our creative side! Life can get really busy at times (as we all know), making it difficult to take out time for the things we love. We at the PCC wanted to give our members a space to blissfully create while using our efforts for meaningful impact. We’re just a bunch of folks using art for good.
Art
Art is food for the soul, and we want to make the process of engaging with creativity as rewarding as possible for our high achieving artists. That’s why one of our pillars at PCC is to encourage art and expression of all mediums and forms. We showcase digital art, physical art, writing, and performance through our various PCC showcases, and celebrate the diversity of experiences that our contributors highlight through their interpretations of our annual themes.
Service
We want to incentivize artistry by using it as a vehicle for service. Artists who donate work to our showcases earn community service hours for every hours they took to make their art. We also conduct service via fundraising: 100% of the proceeds from of the art we sell go toward local nonprofits that our members want to support in the Austin area, and receive an in-depth exploration in our Zine to share the nonprofit’s mission and network with our customers.

Who We Are
-
We are focused on the literary aspect of the Zine! We create writing prompts, review literary submissions, and make Spotify playlists for each Zine issue. Members will brainstorm ideas for the writing prompts, review submissions for grammatical/clarity errors, and help design the Spotify playlist.
-
We are responsible for the conception and execution for each Zine issue. This includes compiling all submitted artwork and writing pieces into custom designed pages. This committee is heavily focused on artistic and creative freedom. We mainly use Procreate and Figma for our design work.
-
We are responsible for organizing the back-end technicalities that make PCC possible, including working with nonprofit organizations, organizing reservations, running PCC's social media accounts, and handling finances. We work with Canva, Google Workspace tools, and UT's internal communication systems.
-
Help spread the word about PCC! Member duties include designing and distributing the PCC weekly newsletter, merchandise, artist & writer programs for each showcase, and other promotional materials. We mainly use Canva and digital drawing software to create designs.
Our Impact
We raise money to support the Austin community, because we believe art has the power to change the world. Established in 2022, PCC will build on the success of it’s early years to build on our mission to go good here at the Forty Acres.
