Student Recruiters

Dr. Burghart has been at UT Austin since 2017 and joined the Honors Center in 2025. He brings with him two decades of experience as a research scientist and over a decade in positions of student support. Through roles as a career counselor, academic advisor, and instructor, he mentors Polymathic Honors students from year one through graduation. He co-teaches the seminar for first year students with Dr. Mike Mauk and leads the Field Invention Seminar, where students connect their diverse interests and begin defining a research path. In his spare time, he attends as many concerts as he can, reads (mostly science, history, and sci-fi), spends time in the hill country with his dogs, plays the guitar poorly, and does his best to rage against the dying of the light.
